At the start of 2009, after many albums, concerts with HIM and big festivals like Wacken and WGT, and following the split with his gothic metal formation, Thora, singer and songwriter Tommy founded his new gothic rock band, Godex.

With catchy melodies and rocking songs in the style of The 69 Eyes or HIM, Godex captured the hearts of all metal, gothic and rock fans with their first album “Gates Of The Universe”. Since then, they have become a permanent feature on the dark culture scene. Before long, Godex were playing their first larger and smaller concerts and from the word go, they received much acclaim for their live performances.

It wasn’t long before the next Godex album was released. Mid 2011, it was back to the studio to record “Lovesick”, on which Godex continued on their chosen musical path. Whereas “Gates” was kept quite straightforward, “Lovesick” was more of a surprise with more complex arrangements and harder parts without however missing the catchiness of its forerunner. The memorable lyrics and melodies of this album again clearly reflected Godex’ potential.

Following the release of “Lovesick”, Godex again took to the stage and played concerts with, among others, the stalwarts of goth rock/metal, Crematory, the Finnish glam/goth band, Private Line, as well as End of Green, Lacrimas Profundere and many more. At festivals Godex also managed to win over the audiences, for example, at the Blackfield Festival in 2013 with bands like Staubkind, Mono Inc. and Eisbrecher.

A short time later Godex secured, thanks to their steadily growing fan base, one of the most sought after support act slots within the “Mäzenatentumult” presented by Orkus! and ASP and at the end of 2013 they performed as an opener at one of the ASP tour concerts.

Early in 2014, Godex released their third album, “Chamber Doom”, the first purely acoustic Godex album. On this work, Tommy was supported by artist and pianist, Raphael Grüner, who helped with the interpretation of older Godex songs and pieces from the earlier band, Thora, helped inspire and, with his unique piano playing, gave the whole album a concertante touch. Reduced down to piano, vocals, drums, strings and bass, the listener experiences a coherent album that captivates the listener right to the last note, despite the rather lengthy time gap between some of the compositions’ appearance. “Chamber Doom” is presented in a stylishly designed digifile with vinyl CD which gives the album, consistent with the music, and slight retro touch.

In 2015, there were then further concerts where Godex played with, among others, Mono Inc. in Attendorn. In the middle of the year, the pre-production for the new album“The Heart Collector” was ready and the album was subsequently recorded at the legendary Woodhouse Studios. “The Heart Collector” was produced by Siggi Bemm, who has also worked with greats such as Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, Joachim Witt and Tiamat and many others.

Promotion of the new Godex album began at the beginning of 2016. In cooperation with the Dortmund-based video and design agency, ÜberRot, a new image and design concept for Godex was developed and in the middle of 2016 the CD design for “The Heart Collector" and a music video for “Glory Glitter And Gold” were produced. Finally, the only thing left was the master for the new album, which was then of course also produced by Siggi Bemm.

With some harmonious artwork, a creative and professional video and sensational production by Siggi Bemm, Godex have managed with “The Heart Collector” to create a masterpiece of modern rock music, which was released in May 2017 with the support of the promo and concert agency WOD. Accordingly, the press overturned with praise and many positive reviews. Even the big radio stations of the country were very enthusiastic about the music and so there were various radio inserts of the first single "Glory Glitter And Gold" and several album presentations on WDR 2, Radio Bob, NDR, MDR u.v.a.

Godex was also able to book various appearances on television. "Shine So Bright" ran 260 times on TV by the end of 2020.

In May 2017, the first festivals followed and Godex performed many songs from their new album live. A first big tour together was not long in coming and so the “The Heart Collector” Tour 2017 started, which Godex took as support of the Goth / Electro band “The Crüxshadows”.

Together both bands toured through 12 cities and Godex successfully presented the new album to the audience. The response from the public and the press was incredibly good and Godex won numerous new fans.
At the end of 2017, Godex played the Autumn Moon Festival and 2018 Castle Rock to mention just a few more festival highlights.
Now Godex exists for 10 years and so the year 2019 was used extensively to do some re-recordings. Tommy released two download bundles “Godex Gold Part One” and “Godex Gold Part Two”.
A very special highlight turned out to be the collaboration with the Schlagwetter singer Kevin Spiegel, with whom Tommy made a re-recording of the Godex classic Miss You. The mixture of Tommys and Kevins voices, the combination of German and English vocals, was extremely well received by the audience.
At the beginning of 2020 it went back to the studio to record the single “Superstar”. The single contained two new songs and was released on June 25th, 2020 with a great response.

Later in 2020, Tommy devoted himself to a side project and played drums on a song with Amandas Nadel. The single "Finanz Faschismus" was published in early January 2021 and attracted a lot of attention.

This gave the starting signal for the production of the 5th studio album “Never Ending”. A total of 11 new songs were recorded that were written between 2013 and 2020.

Initially, the new album will only be sold as a virtual download box via Digistore24. The complete bundle includes the 11 new songs in mp3 format, the cover and booklet of the album, a complete video clip for the song “We Are The Lost”, previews of the upcoming videos “Conquer The World”, “Not Your Victim”, “Cold Winter Moon ”and a thank you video for everyone who downloaded the new bundle.

This new type of release offers Godex the possibility of creating inexpensive and attractive releases in the future, especially at a time when sales of physical CDs are declining and the opportunities to play live are also heavily limited.

Godex is leading the way and other bands will follow suit with this type of release. Here, Tommy once again proves his great innovation and the ability to make the most of the current social situation.

Nach vielen Alben, Konzerten mit HIM und großen Festivals wie Wacken und dem WGT gründete
Sänger und Songwriter Tommy, nach dem Split seiner Gothic Metal Formation Thora Anfang 2009, seine neue Gothic Rock Band Godex.
Mit eingängigen Melodien und rockigen Songs à la The 69 Eyes oder Him eroberten Godex mit ihrem ersten Album “Gates Of The Universe“ im Sturm die Herzen aller Metal, Gothic und Rock Fans und sind seitdem aus der schwarzen Szene nicht mehr wegzudenken.
Binnen kurzer Zeit spielten Godex erste kleinere und größere Konzerte und erhielten insbesondere live von Anfang an sehr großen Zuspruch.

Das nächste Godex Album ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Mitte 2011 ging es wieder ab ins Studio, um „Lovesick“ auf zu nehmen, auf dem Godex ihren musikalischen Weg konsequent fortsetzten.
War „Gates“ noch recht geradlinig gehalten, überraschten Godex auf „Lovesick“ mit komplexeren
Arrangements und härteren Parts, ohne jedoch die Eingängigkeit des Vorgängers vermissen zu lassen. Einprägsame Texte und Melodien spiegelten auch bei diesem Album Godex‘ Potential zu 100 Prozent wider.

Nach der Veröffentlichung von „Lovesick“ stürmten Godex erneut die Bühnen und spielten
unter anderem Konzerte mit den Gothrock/Metal Urgesteinen Crematory, der finnischen Glam-Goth
Band Private Line, sowie mit End Of Green, Lacrimas Profundere und vielen weiteren.
Auch auf Festivals konnten Godex bereits das Publikum überzeugen. So zum Beispiel beim
Blackfield Festival 2013 mit Bands wie Staubkind, Mono Inc. und Eisbrecher.

Kurz darauf gewannen Godex, dank ihrer stetig wachsenden Fanbase, im Rahmen des vom
Orkus! und ASP präsentierten Mäzenatentumults einen der begehrten Supportplätze und eröffneten
eines der ASP Konzerte auf ihrer Tour Ende 2013.

Im Frühjahr 2014 wurde das dritte Album von Godex, „Chamber Doom“, veröffentlicht, welches das erste rein akustische Godex Album ist. Unterstützung fand Tommy bei diesem Werk durch den Künstler und Pianisten Raphael Grüner, der ihn bei der Interpretation der neuen Versionen älterer Godex Songs und Stücken seiner früheren Band Thora unterstütze, inspirierte und dem gesamten Album durch sein einzigartiges Klavierspiel eine sehr konzertante Note gibt. Reduziert auf Piano, Vocals, Drums, Strings und Bass erlebt der Zuhörer, trotz des teilweise doch sehr großen zeitlichen Abstands der Kompositionen, ein in sich schlüssiges Album, das den Hörer bis zur letzten Note fesselt. „Chamber Doom“ präsentiert sich in einem stilvoll gestalteten Digi File mit Vinyl CD, welches dem Album, im Einklang mit der Musik, einen leichten Retrotouch gibt.

2015 ging es weiter mit einigen Konzerten, unter anderem spielten Godex zusammen mit Mono Inc. in Attendorn. Mitte des Jahres wurde die Pre-Production zum neuen Album “The Heart Collector“ fertiggestellt und das Album im Anschluss in den legendären Woodhouse Studios aufgenommen. Produziert wurde “The Heart Collector“ von Siggi Bemm, der unter anderem für Größen wie Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, Joachim Witt, Tiamat und viele andere gearbeitet hat.

Anfang 2016 begann dann die Promotion-Arbeit zum neuen Godex-Album. In Zusammenarbeit mit der Dortmunder Video- und Design Agentur ÜberRot wurde ein neues Image- und Design Konzept für Godex erarbeitet und Mitte 2016 das CD Design von „The Heart Collector“ und ein Musikvideo
zu „Glory Glitter And Gold“ erstellt. Abschließend fehlte nur noch das Master des neuen Albums, welches natürlich ebenfalls von Siggi Bemm produziert wurde. Mit einem harmonischen Artwork,
einem kreativen und professionellen Video und einer sensationellen Produktion von Siggi Bemm ist Godex mit „The Heart Collector“ ein Meisterwerk moderner Rockmusik gelungen, welches im Mai 2017 mit Unterstützung der Promo- und Konzertagentur WOD veröffentlicht wurde. Dementsprechend überschlug sich die Presse auch mit Lob und vielen positiven Kritiken. Auch die großen Radiostationen des Landes waren von der Musik schnell begeistert und so gab es diverse Radioeinsätze der ersten Single „Glory Glitter And Gold“ und zahlreiche Albumvorstellungen unter anderem bei WDR 2, Radio Bob, NDR, MDR u.v.a.

Auch diverse Einsätze im Fernsehen konnten Godex verbuchen. So ist „Shine So Bright“ bis Ende 2020 um die 260 mal im TV gelaufen.

Im Mai 2017 folgten die ersten Festivals auf denen Godex viele Songs ihres neuen Albums live vorstellten. Eine erste gemeinsame große Tour ließ nun auch nicht mehr lange auf sich warten und somit startete im September die „The Heart Collector“ Tour 2017, die Godex als Support von der Goth-/Elekrogröße The Crüxshadows durch 12 Städte führte und auf der Godex ihr neues Album dem Publikum erfolgreich präsentierte. Auch hier war die Resonanz des Publikums und der Presse sehr positiv und Godex haben zahlreiche neue Fans für sich gewinnen können.

Ende 2017 spielten Godex das Autumn Moon Festival und 2018 das Castle Rock, um nur einige weitere Festival Highlights hervorzuheben.

Nun gab es Godex schon 10 Jahre und somit wurde das Jahr 2019 ausgiebig genutzt, um einige Re-recording zu machen. Quasi als „Best Of Godex“ veröffentlichte Tommy zwei Download Alben, „Godex Gold Part One“ und „Godex Gold Part Two“.

Als ein ganz besonders Highlight entpuppte sich die Zusammenarbeit mit Schlagwetter Sänger Kevin Spiegel, mit dem Tommy ein Re-recording vom Godex Klassiker Miss You machte. Die Mischung aus Tommys und Kevins Stimmen, die Kombination von deutschem und englischem Gesang, kamen bei Publikum außerordentlich gut an.

Anfang 2020 ging es wieder ins Studio, um die Single Superstar aufzunehmen. Die Single enthielt zwei neue Songs und wurde am 25.06.2020 mit toller Resonanz veröffentlicht.

Zum Ende des Jahres 2020 widmete sich Tommy noch einem Nebenprojekt und spielte Schlagzeug bei einem gemeinsamen Song mit Amandas Nadel. Die Single „Finanz Faschismus“ wurde Anfang Januar 2021 veröffentlicht und erregte sehr viel Aufmerksamkeit.

Dies gab dann auch den Startschuss für die Produktion des 5. Studioalbums Never Ending. Insgesamt wurden 11 neue Songs aufgenommen, die in der Zeit zwischen 2013 und 2020 geschrieben wurden.

Das neue Album wird anfangs nur als virtuelle Download-Box über Digistore24 vertrieben. Das komplette Bundle beinhaltet die 11 neuen Songs im mp3 Format, das Cover und Booklet des Albums, einen kompletten Videoclip zum Song „We Are The Lost“, Previews zu den kommenden Videos „Conquer The World“, „Not Your Victim“, „Cold Winter Moon“ und einem Danke-Video für alle, die sich das neue Bundle geladen haben.

Diese neue Art der Veröffentlichung bietet Godex auch in der Zukunft die Möglichkeit kostengünstige und attraktive Veröffentlichungen zu gestalten, besonders in einer Zeit in der die Verkäufe von physischen CDs stark rückläufig sind und die Möglichkeiten live zu spielen ebenfalls stark eingeschenkt werden.

Godex macht es vor und andere Bands werden mit dieser Art der Veröffentlichung nachziehen. Hier beweist Tommy einmal mehr seine große Innovationskraft und die Fähigkeit, das Beste aus der aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Situation zu machen.
